Key research areas

Glasgow’s research strengths are diverse, and growing. The University is leading the way in traditional academic areas from medicine and physics to engineering, ethics and astronomy, as well as in ultramodern disciplines like bioelectronics, cell signalling, nanotechnology, and optoelectronics. And, in the latest Research Assessment Exercise our History of Art unit was the most highly rated of any university in the UK.

This commitment to remaining at the forefront of discovery is of vital benefit to our students, who receive an education led by academics working on the latest developments in their field. Glasgow is proud to be a member of the Russell Group of 20 major research-led universities in the UK.
