Translational Medical Sciences
Background & Aims
This programme was set up to offer a range of options to those of you interested in Translational Medical Sciences: those disciplines in which the scientific knowledge and technological expertise can be directly translated to clinical or industrial environments. You will apply for the generic programme, but at an early stage you can decide whether to remain on the generic route, or to opt for one of the specialisms. Your experience in the early weeks of the programme will help you decide, and of course you’ll have plenty of opportunity to discuss options with staff and fellow students. The various routes are intended to address the needs of particular sectors, from commercial companies who want graduates with knowledge and experience of relevant techniques, to prospective PhD supervisors, who want to have confidence that you are truly prepared for doctoral study.
