Digital Signal Processing 1

MATLAB screenshot of ECG processingThis module deals with the processing of discrete time sequences. A typical example is the processing of audio files recorded with a sound card or the recording of a physical quantity, for instance temperature, over a period of time.

You will first gain an understanding of the general concepts of discrete time sequences, how they are described mathematically and the problems which arise when continous signals are sampled. You will then learn how to design and implement filters, including signal detection and advanced filtering.

Your theoretical understanding will be enhanced through four practical assignments which deal with different forms of data processing (electrical heart activity, audio files and telephony signals).
