Programme structure
The Post Graduate Certificate in Strategic Leadership comprises of three core-courses, which will total 60 credits at masters level 11 (SCQF).

Leading Organisations
20 credits at masters level 11 (SCQF)
This course aims to assist students to: understand the culture of the organisation, understand the change process and understand the management strategies that will lead to positive change. The course will have three modules, the first will consider issues associated with the culture of the organisation and the people within it. The second will consider organisational change and development, the third will focus on the various issues confronting educational leaders when managing their organisations, the key workplace processes on which they rely to accomplish their responsibilities.
Strategic Thinking and Change Management
20 credits at masters level 11 (SCQF)
This course will enable students to gain greater understanding of the theory and practice of strategic leadership as a mechanism for supporting the management of change. The course uses key theorists in the field together with students’ own workplace experiences to improve their leadership practice at the local authority level.
Practitioner Enquiry and Decision Making
20 credits at masters level 11 (SCQF)
This course is designed to promote the skills of practitioner enquiry and to enhance capacity for research and evidence use in professional practice. The target group of participants are professionals currently employed in human services, education and education-related work. The course addresses the need to promote engagement with and in research by professionals in organisational services. Research engagement is integral to the promotion of evidence-based professional practice. The course aims to strengthen participants’ understanding of the relationship between research and practice.
