Strategic Leadership (PgCert)
Background
This programme was initially developed in response to a request from the Scottish Training on Drugs and Alcohol (STRADA) to develop a 60 credit programme that is suitable for leaders in the drug and alcohol field that are working in senior positions at local authority or the national level. The requirements for people at this level include the need to analyse and consider policy and to develop a forward looking perspective so that they can deliver appropriate policies and support services to those working in the field. Discussions with senior local authority personnel resulted in the current programme, which has been widened to enable people who work in any human service setting to undertake the programme. Successful completion of this programme will enable students to use the credits gained towards a Master of Science (Organisational Leadership).
Who is the programme for?
This new programme is offered by a team from the School of Education in the College of Social Sciences, and is designed to bring together public servants working at management levels in local authorities or large public organisations, with the view of developing better ways of understanding change, leading strategically, and reviewing the impact of change on the development of organisations.
