Russian, Central & East European Studies (MRes)
Programme structure
You will normally take all five core courses. A 12,000-15,000 word dissertation should be submitted in September.
Compulsory Core Courses:
- Research Methods for Studying Russia, Central and Eastern Europe
- Language (Czech, Estonian, Hungarian, Latvian, Lithuanian, Polish, Russian, Slovak or Ukrainian)
- Social Sciences methods courses:
- Social Science Statistics 1
- Qualitative Methods
- Social Science Statistics 2 OR Advanced Qualitative Methods
Students not requiring language training (native speakers/those with a degree in one of the region’s languages) will take the IMRCEES/MSc core course, State and society under communism in Russia, Central and Eastern Europe.
