This degree is intended to prepare students for a career as a chartered surveyor, primarily as a member of the Commercial Property or Valuation or Property Investment and Finance Professional Groups of the RICS
Part 1a: Understanding Cities, Markets, Institutions and Governance
- Global Cities (20 credits)
- Governance and Markets (10 credits)
- Development Process (10 credits)
- Development Economics (10 credits)
Part 1b: Exploring Reflective Practice
- Professional Practice, Ethics & Management (10 credits)
Part 2: Making a Practical Difference
- Real Estate Markets (10 credits)
- Real Estate Finance & Investment (10 credits)
- Real Estate Valuation and Appraisal (10 credits)
- Advanced Real Estate Valuation and Appraisal (10 credits)
PLUS 20 credits of optional courses taken from the following list:
- Strategic Real Estate Management (10 credits) AND International Real Estate Markets (10 credits)
- International Corporate Finance (20 credits)
- Other approved courses delivered elsewhere in the Business School.
Part 3: Research Experience and Skills (60 credits)
In Part 3, students work in depth on a real estate topic of their own choice (subject to the approval of the Programme Director), pursuing original investigative work through an academic dissertation or practically orientated action project. This work is supported by research methods training, review seminars and the appointment of an academic supervisor for each student.
