Professional Practice with PGDE

Background

This new degree was introduced to provide participants with the opportunity to complete their Masters qualification. The programme is designed for practicing teachers to extend, develop and enhance their professional practice through practitioner enquiry. The programme is delivered online and is available to home and international students.

Who is the programme for?

The programme is for teachers who have completed their PGDE at the University of Glasgow and wish to complete the remaining credits in order to gain a Masters qualification.

What will you get from this programme?

As a new teacher starting out in their career this programme will develop the critically reflective professional enquiry necessary for you to explore your own practice in order to improve it. It will also provide guidance into the ethical practice habits you need to embed into your own practice. The programme is part time basis in order to fit into the workplace demands. It will be delivered using the online platform Moodle, and is suitable for overseas candidates.

The programme is offered over two courses, Professional Enquiry and Decision Making (30 credits at Masters level) and Practitioner Enquiry Project Dissertation (60 credits at Masters level).

Funding

Glasgow Graduates’ Scholarships are available to all Alumni of the University of Glasgow (including Junior Year Abroad and Exchange Students) who wish to continue with Postgraduate studies. The scholarships are open to students who are fully self-funded and students can only be in receipt of one scholarship at a time. Part-time scholarships will be valid for the expected length of the programme.

Accredited Prior Learning (APL)

All students must have completed their PGDE at the University of Glasgow post 2008.
