Organisational Leadership

Background

This programme combines a general focus on the leadership of organisations, with a focus on the leadership of specific services and agency sectors. With globalisation and the development of knowledge economies in mind, it adopts an international and comparative perspective in critically appraising theory and research.

The emphasis is on leadership learning, and the structuring and the impact of leaders’ work. The programme highlights the contextualized nature of leadership and leadership knowledge, the development of leadership and management capabilities, types and levels of leadership and their link to policy environments, leaders’ personal attributes, and cultural and situational factors that shape leadership practice.

This programme will be delivered in parallel with our distance-learning cohort based in Oman who will be studying the MSc Organisational Leadership (Oman) through our partner institution Majan University College.

Who is the programme for?

The purpose of the MSc in Organisational Leadership is to provide participants who work in human services, such as education, health, welfare or social services with a unique opportunity to complete a programme that is both comprehensive and tailored to individual needs. The programme enables people from different leadership orientations to work together to enable useful discussions about their own leadership experiences, but also to foster interagency communications and interactions. The programme is unique in the sense that it will bring together people from early childhood, schools, higher education, adult education and public service agencies through common leadership programmes, but also allow them to follow and develop ideas within specific interest areas with individually oriented courses and supervised study. Upon completion of the programme, participants will be able to graduate with a degree with six unique pathways as below:

  • MSc in Organisational Leadership (Childhood Practice)
  • MSc in Organisational Leadership (School Leadership)
  • MSc in Organisational Leadership (Higher Education)
  • MSc in Organisational Leadership (Adult and Community Leadership)
