Media Management
Structure and Content

The Masters/MSc in Media Management is a one year full time taught postgraduate course. It commences each year in mid-September and consists of a taught programme (lasting two semesters, from September to April) followed by an individual supervised research dissertation.
This postgraduate course in Media Management is inter-disciplinary and is designed to meet the needs of aspiring or existing media managers and, more generally, those who are seeking a developed overview of media and creative sectors at a national and international level. It offers an academically rigorous and rewarding experience while, at the same time, honing the analytical skills and sector-specific knowledge of those interested in management careers in media and related fields.
Within the taught component of the programme, core courses taught by specialist staff at Glasgow will provide you with an understanding of the economic, managerial, legal and cultural frameworks within which media organisations and industries operate. Modes of delivery include lectures, seminars and workshops in CCPR and in the Glasgow University Business School, together with presentations from leading industry guest speakers. Visiting Professors in Media Management at Glasgow include Chris Llewellyn President of FIPP (The International Federation of the Periodical Press) - pictured above addressing the Media Economics class - and David Booth of MTV.
You will also have the opportunity to pursue your own special interests through selection from a range of elective courses and through undertaking a supervised individual research dissertation.
