You will develop knowledge of the underpinning fields of management, in conjunction with developing a specialism in human resource management. The programme will give you a rapid and succinct introduction to contemporary business and financial management issues, while providing you with an informed understanding of environmental and historical influences on business and management practice, and a critical understanding of the nature of issues associated with human resource management at both the strategic and operational levels.
The first part of the programme focuses on the building blocks of management, such as strategic management and marketing, while the second half of the programme will allow you to develop specialist knowledge and skills in human resource management. The increased importance of people management has been recognised in business and that it has the potential to create and sustain competitive advantage in organisations. The programme provides students with an advantage in the labour market and employers highly skilled and knowledgeable employees who have an appreciation of the fields within general management but who also have specialist knowledge in human resource management.
