Leadership Drugs & Alcohol Setting (PgCert)
Background
The School of Education was approached by the Scottish Training on Drugs and Alcohol (STRADA) to establish a partnership programme in the area of leadership development for Drug and Alcohol workers. Previously a non-credit course was developed and run through the Faculty of Business, however STRADA asked that there be an award bearing course developed. The current course was developed in partnership with STRADA to deliver leadership training to people working at the community level in the drug and alcohol field.
Who is the programme for?
This programme has been designed for people working in community settings, hospitals, community service agencies or drug and alcohol services. They will have the responsibility of leading those services, or teams of people within those services, to ensure the highest possible level of care and cost-effectiveness for clients with drugs and/or alcohol issues.
What will you get from this programme?
By the end of this programme you will be able to:
- Evaluate the concept of leadership and its application to drug and alcohol service settings
- Describe the nature of teamwork and its application in drug and alcohol settings
- Analyse leadership and management within a continuous improvement model
- Explain and contrast managing change and improvement in drug and alcohol settings in the UK and Scotland
