Programme

The Doctoral and Masters (MSc Med Sci) programme in Health-Professions Education is appropriate for healthcare professionals who have an interest in medical education, clinical education, dental education, or similar area. Applications are welcomed from doctors, dentists, nurses, biomedical and psycho-social scientists, veterinary practitioners, or other health professionals, who teach, assess, manage or administer undergraduate or postgraduate students, and wish to extend their evidence-based knowledge and practice.

Healthcare professionals from Glasgow, other parts of the UK or international locations are welcome to apply, either as a full-time or part-time resident scholar, or, from home, (at a distance), using the multi-media teaching facility.

Course options

  • 1 year full-time, with attendance in the Faculty of Medicine.
  • 3 years part-time, with attendance at the Faculty of Medicine.
  • 3 years part-time, at home, with attendance in the multi-media learning environment;on-line; taught sessions.
  • 5 years for the professional doctorate.

Course structure

  • Course 1 (60 credits). The Principles of Heath-Professions Education
  • Course 2 (60 credits). Evidence, policy and governance in Health-Professions Education
  • Course 3 (60 credits). Masters dissertation (15,000 - 20,000 words)
  • Course 4 (360 credits). Doctoral thesis (50,000 words)
