Programme Structure
The Masters Programme
The programme is structured in a number of modules. The MSc requires 180 credits, the Postgraduate Diploma requires 120 credits and the PG Certificate requires 60 credits, modules included are:
- Introduction to Geomatics and Cartography
- Fundamentals of Geomatics (20 credits)
- Principles of Cartographic Design and Production (10 credits)
- Principles of GIS (10 credits)
- Visualisation and Map Use (10 credits)
- Topographic Mapping (10 credits)
- Internet and Mobile GIS (10 credits)
- Applied GIS (10 credits)
- Land Registration and LIS (10 credits)
- Geospatial Data Infrastructures (10 credits)
- Research and Professional Issues (10 credits)
- Options (5 credits each) from: GIS Apps Development; Remote Sensing; Map Editing; Photogrammetry; Public Transport Mapping; Cartographic Researchetc.
- MSc project (60 credits)
The MSc is available on a full-time basis over a 12 month period, or on a part-time basis over 2 or 3 years. The PG Diploma takes 9 months full-time or 2-3 academic sessions part-time. The PG Certificate takes 4 months full-time or can be spread over 2 academic sessions. The MSc and Diploma projects may be undertaken in collaboration with industry (full or part-time).
