“I completed the MSc (MedSci) Forensic Toxicology programme at the University of Glasgow and graduated with distinction in November 2011. Studying in a Forensic Toxicology unit that actively carries out casework in addition to being mentored by experienced forensic toxicologists; I gained invaluable experience on how to be a successful analytical scientist and forensic toxicologist. I expanded my knowledge on the principles of forensic toxicology and further strengthened my analytical laboratory skills within a working environment of ISO/IEC 17025 accredited forensic toxicology laboratory. The knowledge and skills that I attained through studying this course helped enable me to gain employment in an analytical bio-analysis laboratory as soon as I graduated. I am now currently employed as a trainee forensic toxicologist/research assistant within Forensic Medicine and Science at the University of Glasgow. The skills attained are now being applied by supporting the forensic toxicology service and also I am gaining experience to become an expert witness.”
