This masters in Finance and Management is designed to provide participants with a variety of skills and in-depth knowledge associated with financial management and international business.

Programme overview

  • MSc: 12 months full-time;
  • PgCert 9 months full-time;

You will gain expertise in international business, including strategic management and financial management. You will also be introduced to key topics such as intellectual property protection, ethics and corporate and social responsibility. In addition you will be equipped with the understanding and knowledge of financial and investment decision making.

The assessed units of this programme will be complemented with a personal and career development workshop programme scheduled to run through semesters one and two. The workshop programme will consist of two distinct elements of non-assessed activity:

  1. Reflective learning exercises – including induction events, strategic case analyses and a business ethics debate
  2. Career development sessions – involving essay and exam answering workshops, CV writing sessions, interview simulations, careers advice shops and job market analysis meetings.

Academic entry requirements

You should have at least a 2:1 Honours degree or non-UK equivalent (eg, a GPA of 3.0 or above) in a relevant subject containing 20% coverage of business, management and economics. Those who do not have such a background who would like to pursue further studies in the area of financial management are advised to apply for MSc Management with International Finance.

English language requirements

For applicants whose first language is not English, the University sets a minimum English Language proficiency level.

International English Language Testing System (IELTS) Academic module (not General Training):

  • overall score 6.5
  • no sub-test less than 6.0, with writing at 6.5
  • or equivalent scores in another recognised qualification (see below)

Glasgow International College offers Foundation courses to upgrade your academic qualifications.

Visa requirements and proof of English language level

It is a visa requirement to provide information on your level of English based on an internationally recognised and secure English language test. All test reports must be no more than 2 years old. A list of these can be found on the UK Border Agency website. If you have never taken one of these tests before, you can get an initial idea of your level by using the Common European Framework self-assessment grid which gives you a level for each skill (e.g. listening B1/writing B2 etc.) However, please note that this is not a secure English language test and it is not sufficient evidence of your level of English for visa requirements.
