Learning and Teaching approaches
Teaching of film writing skills will take place in a workshop situation in which presentations by the lecturers/visiting practitioners will be reinforced by discussion of student work. The core courses will feature leading practitioners in journalism who will offer practical advice and expertise and teaching will draw on visits to particular film events in Scotland e.g. film festivals, special seasons etc. Peer response will be an important element and students will build upon their own skills by critiquing the work of others. Teaching of film theory in specialist options may take place in more formal lectures and seminars but there will always be an emphasis on student participation and contribution.
