  • MSc: 12 months full-time

This programme is aimed at students with an engineering background, but with little management experience. Management is an extremely important aspect of engineering and for those graduates looking to advance to senior positions in companies and to perform well at this level then knowledge and understanding of management principles will give you a competitive edge in the jobs market.

An individual project, which will form the MSc dissertation, will be undertaken between June and September. Through existing collaborations with industrial and academic partners, you may have the opportunity to study at partner institutions in the UK and further afield during the summer months.

Content

In common with all the Business & Management MSc programmes, this MSc is structured to provide management courses in the first semester.  It aims to provide a solid grounding in business and management. Knowledge and understanding, cultivated principally through lectures and project/tutorial/workshop groupings. Engineering courses are taught in the second semester, which aims to enhance your group working and project management capability at the same time as improving their depth of knowledge in chosen aerospace engineering subjects.

Compulsory courses

  • Financial information management
  • Management decision making
  • Managing innovative change
  • People in organisations
  • Aerospace engineering project management
  • Group project 2.

Optional courses

  • Flight mechanics 3
  • Propulsion & turbomachinery 3
  • Elements of law for engineers
  • Aircraft structural analysis and design 3
  • Aircraft vibration and aeroelasticity 4
  • High speed aerodynamics 4
  • Turbomachinery 4
  • Computational fluid dynamics 4
  • Industrial aerodynamics 4.

The summer period is for individual project work, aimed at practical application and consolidation of earlier courses and enhancing the ability to do independent work as well as present results in the most appropriate form.
