Community Learning & Development

Practice placement

This course gives you an opportunity to apply the theories and values you have learned to practice contexts and demonstrate your competence as a practitioner in a community learning development setting. You will plan, implement and evaluate practice and analyse it in the light of community learning & development theory.

You will undertake two blocks of practice. The first is formative and non-assessed and takes place in semester 1. The second is summatively assessed and takes place in semester 2. In total 480 hours of practice are undertaken by the students.

If you are currently working in Community Learning and Development, your workplace can act as your placement. Alternatively, a placement which matches your interests and career aspirations will be set up. Previous placements have included local authorities, church groups, community forums, disability groups, asylum seeker organizations and community arts groups. You will be fully supported throughout identifying and undertaking your placement.
