Programme Structure
Core Teaching Courses
The core teaching provides a good grounding in nutrition by covering all the main aspects of the topic. Teaching is in the form of lectures, practical sessions, self-directed learning, seminars and tutorials.
Courses taught in semesters 1 & 2 are:
• Food and Nutrient Requirements and Nutrition through the life cycle
• Digestion and Absorption and Nutritional Metabolism
• Dietary and Nutritional Assessment
• Public Health Nutrition and Eating Behaviour
• Clinical Nutrition specialisation
In semester 3, students who have gained the necessary grades will progress on to the Clinical Case Studies course. Students who are ineligible for progression will be able to graduate with a Postgraduate Diploma in Human Nutrition
Generic Skills Programme
The core programme also includes a comprehensive teaching programme in:
• Communication and Learning Techniques
• Presentation Skills
• Academic Journal Review Skills
• Research Seminars
• Statistics and data handling
The MSc (Med.Sci.) takes place full time over 12 months.
