Core courses
The core courses for students on the MSc in City Planning & Real Estate Development are as follows:
- Development Economics & Real Estate Appraisal introduces planning and development students to traditional and contemporary valuation and appraisal principles and methods, and the factors that impact on property values. Students will apply these principles in a valuation and development appraisal project.
- Contemporary Government & Governance provides a wide-ranging introduction to issues in contemporary governance and planning, and essential background knowledge for planning and real estate professionals.
- Changing Cities & Neighbourhoods is an interesting and informative course providing a broad knowledge of the concepts and theories relevant to the study of urban change, spatial planning and urban policy, together with an understanding of the main trends in urban development in developed countries today.
- Professional Practice & Ethics seeks to cultivate a reflective and legal aware approach to questions of ethics and values in real estate and planning professional practice.
- Strategic Management & Decision-Making enables students to enhance their capabilities in management, leadership, decision-making, negotiation and associated generic competencies by relating established theory and knowledge in these fields to real estate and planning.
All five MSc degrees within the REPR MSc Programme share a common structure, as a result of which, students can switch from one degree to another at any time prior to commencing the second part of the programme.
