Chemistry research contributes to finding solutions to great societal challenges such as manufacturing of the future, providing energy in a changing world, and healthcare technologies.
Current research themes focus upon: Catalysis and Synthesis; Nanoscience and Materials Chemistry; Chemical Biology, Molecular Medicine, Synthetic Biology; Complex Chemical Systems; Dynamics and Structure.
The School of Chemistry works in close collaboration with industry and other research organisations in the UK and abroad to provide a truly dynamic and international research environment. Leading academic and industrial scientists give regular research presentations within the School. WestCHEM creates a dynamic research and learning environment that is able to attract the best student and postdoctoral researchers to work on internationally leading research.
Research is undertaken in modern research laboratories and is underpinned by excellent analytical facilities and IT resources (e.g. electronic journal access).
