Family accommodation

We recognise that some students require accommodation for their families and we have a limited number of family flats available for rent.  Flats are available in both University-owned and University-managed accommodation and the cost varies, depending on the size and location of the flat.

  • Five of the one bedroomed flats within the Student Apartments residence are studio flats. All other flats comprise of bedrooms, living room, kitchen and bathroom. 

  • Some 2 bedroom flats may occasionally be available at our Lister House residence (£171.01 per week).

  • All flats are fully furnished and include: bedlinen; crockery; cutlery; pots.

  • Flats are situated in various locations and are either within walking distance of the University or are located close to an Underground station.

Council Tax

Full time students are not liable for Council Tax if they live alone, or if all those staying in the property are full time students. However, if you are accompanied by a non-student partner you will probably be liable for Council Tax. To apply for Council Tax exemption you must obtain a student certificate from the University Registrar and send the original to the City Council and also provide Residential Services with a copy. For International students studying at the University, and accommpanied by their partner, further advice on Council Tax liability is available.
