Big ideas at the Barras

University of Glasgow researchers took up residence alongside the typical Christmas deals at the Barras market on 12 November 2016. Instead of selling wears the academics attracted bargain hunters to their stalls with big ideas about equality and change in our city. Interactive games, demonstrations, music, and film – even a treasure hunt for the kids – celebrated the impact of UoG research on the broader public.

The 'Barras Social' event was part of the ESRC Festival of Social Science 2016. High-energy activities showcased the importance of the social sciences and deepened the University’s bond with the community.
