U21 Undergraduate Research Conference
Thursday 15 Wednesday 21 October 2009
The University of Glasgow is pleased to be hosting the fifth U21 Undergraduate Research Conference in October 2009. This year's conference does not have an over-arching theme, thereby allowing for greater scope in the research papers and poster sessions which students will present.
We have invited 3 students plus 1 academic member of staff to participate in the conference. Each U21 university will have its own way of selecting students to attend the Conference and anyone interested should speak to their university's International Office (or equivalent), which may also offer financial support. Please do not complete the registration form until you have been nominated formally by your own university.
Format of Presentations
- Posters should be based on the A0 U21 Poster Template, printed in advance of travelling to the conference and transported in a suitable cardboard poster tube. Any images used in the poster should have a resolution of at least 300dpi (dots per inch) and if you are using any images from the web please ensure that you are not infringing any copyright. For more information please read our U21 Poster Guidance Notes.
- Oral Presentations will last 10 minutes. We must be strict with the timing, so you may wish to practice in advance. Presentations are to be in Microsoft Powerpoint 2003 Presentation format (*.ppt) and you must be uploaded for approval 15 September 2009.
We strongly urge all students to agree to publication of your poster or paper in the journal The Oculus, published by the University of Virginia. This is an opportunity to have your research published to reach a wider audience, and of course it provides a permanent record of the Universitas 21 Conference. Publication will proceed if at least 10 delegates agree to participate. Further details will be forwarded to you, but you will have the opportunity to adjust your presentation for publication after the Conference, and will also be asked to provide a very short biography.
