You must register within 7 days of your arrival in the UK. You will then be given a Police Registration Certificate which you must store safely. You will need this document if you need to extend your visa from within the UK.
It is also vital that you keep your Police Registration Certificate uptodate. You must report changes to your:
•address
•course
•passport or visa detals
•place of study
•marital status
You must report these changes to the Police within 7 days of the change. Please refer to the 'Making changes' tab for more details.
To register for the first time, you can follow the steps below:
• Book your appointment
Book your appointment at the Police Headquarters directly - Police Headquarters, Nationality Branch, 173 Pitt St, Glasgow, G2 4JS - (0141) 532 2000
• Attend your appointment with the required documents
Registration is carried out at the Police Headquarters (see address above). On the date of your appointment, you will need to attend the Police Headquarters taking these documents with you:
1. Your passport
2. 1 passport-sized photograph
3. £34.00 in cash (registration fee) - try to take the correct change
4. Evidence of your studies (e.g. Confirmation of Student Status letter)
5. Proof of your address (e.g. accommodation contract)
• Collect and store your Police Registration Certificate safely
If you have all of the required documents on the date of your appointment, the Police will stamp your passport to show that you have registered and give you your Police Registration Certificate. It is very important that you keep this somewhere safe, as you will need it for any future in-UK visa extension applications.
You must inform the Police of any changes to your:
•address
•course
•passport details
•length or type of visa

•marital status
You must inform the Police within 7 days of the change by taking evidence of the change and your passport and Police Registration Certificate.
