International Orientation Programmes

These usually take place in September and January each year. Typical events in the Orientation programme include:

• Information sessions on IT, using the library, accessing university services etc.;
• Q&A sessions with current postgraduate students;
• Evening social events;
• Glasgow city bus tours and day trips to other locations in Scotland.

The next International Orientation programmes will take place on:

• September Orientation: 9 - 13 September 2013*
• January Orientation: 8 - 10 January 2014*

Both International Orientation programmes are open to all new undergraduate or postgraduate students from outside the UK who are starting their studies at University of Glasgow at that time.

University of Glasgow Welcome Programme

The International Student Support team also organise and run the Welcome Programme which takes place in September each year. The aim of the Welcome Programme is to assist new international students during the arrival period.

Our Welcome Team will be at Glasgow International airport early in September to welcome you and direct you to the University’s transport or the other transport options available. The video below will show you our Team in action.

Also, in the first weeks of September, new students can seek information and assistance from the Welcome Desk when they arrive on the university campus. The Welcome Desk is staffed by the University of Glasgow Welcome team and the team can assist with queries on various topics such as looking for services in the local area, providing bank letters, how to contact other services at the university.

Please note: the Airport Welcome only runs in September.
