International Family lunch

Every Wednesday at 1215 during term time we meet for lunch in the Fraser Building.

A light lunch is provided and there is plenty of time to talk to others who are here with their families.

Local volunteers and University staff also attend. It’s a very informal occasion and your children are welcome as well.

English classes

We arrange three 10-week blocks of English language classes which are specifically designed for spouses/partners of students only.

Classes are provided at two levels:
  • Lower level: Mondays & Wednesdays
  • Higher level: Thursdays

If your spouse or partner is interested in joining these classes, please let us know by either filling in the reply slip on the  or by e-mailing us at internationalstudentsupport@admin.gla.ac.uk

We will assess your spouse/partner's level before the classes start by giving him or her a short test.

Trips around Scotland

Our trips are a great opportunity to meet and travel with other families and to see different places of interest around Scotland. The International Student Support team usually organise two events per term. Recent events have been:

  • Day trip to Cream o' Galloway ice-cream farm & Moffat
  • Easter holiday excursion to a local cinema
  • Day trip to National Museum of Flight
  • Childrens' Christmas party with a visit from Santa

Please visit our International Family Network Facebook page to see photographs of our recent trips.

Coffee & Craft mornings

We also organise Coffee & Craft mornings throughout the year with a different craft theme each time. You are welcome to join us and try out your skills in jewellery making, painting, paper making etc.

"I myself and my family are extremely thankful to International Support Team...
I also acknowledge that events organised by International Student Support played a great role in completion of my PhD research since whenever I find my family happy and enjoying the events organised by International Student Support of Glasgow University my motivation and concentration towards work substantially increases."
