Incoming European exchanges (Erasmus)
with the support of the Commission of the European Communities within the framework of the LLP Erasmus Programme
The University of Glasgow has exchange agreements with around 250 Universities throughout Europe. To find out if your University has an agreement with us, please consult the exchange partners listings database.
Note: We can only accept visiting students through the Erasmus Programme. However if you are studying Sciences or Engineering and we do not have an agreement with your university you could apply through the Free Mover Scheme paying home fees (current fees are approximately £1,900 for the full year).
"Application are now available for 2010/11"
.....How to apply
- You must be nominated by your home university.
- You should browse our course catalogue to decide which courses you are interested in applying to.You will generally only be allowed to study in the area named in our Erasmus agreement. If the catalogue for 10/11 is not yet available, use the information for 09/10 as a reference. Your programme of studies can be finalised when you get to Glasgow.
- You should then complete on-line, print and send to us the Incoming Erasmus Application. (Please note that the text you type in the form will be gone if you close the document). You must indicate the courses you wish to study at the time of applying. You will also have to send us an up-to-date Academic Transcript in English showing your results at university level. We can accept your own translation of the Transcript providing this is signed/checked by your own university.
- Once you have submitted your form, you should not assume you have been accepted until you receive an email or official letter of acceptance from the University of Glasgow.
- Once accepted, it is generally not possible to extend the length of your period of stay at the University of Glasgow.

Orientation
There will be an orientation programme starting on Tuesday 7th September 2010. You are strongly advised to attend this programme, which provides important information and is an excellent introduction to the university and to Glasgow. During this period you will also meet with your Adviser of Studies (who must approve your academic programme), and you will register (enrol formally) in the university. On acceptance of your application you will be allocated an email address. Upon arrival in Glasgow you will be able to use our computing facilities and internet access. However, until you have registered, you will not have access to the library or sports facilities.
Classes will start on Monday 20th September 2010.
Accommodation
You may apply for a place in university residences, but please note that these are very limited and if you are coming for less than an academic year you are unlikely to be allocated a place and will have to investigate the private sector accommodation.
English Language
You must have a high level of English in order to study at The University of Glasgow. However some students might benefit from the In-Sessional Courses (fee paying) offered by our Language Centre.
