Not only what I have learnt during lectures has given me advantages, studying with international students has made me learn about different cultures.

Nilupa Nadishani De Silva, Sri Lanka
Glasgow is a busy city but has some interesting places to visit. I personally do not like the weather in Scotland. An undergraduate or postgraduate degree from the UK is very well recognised in Sri Lanka. It will increase my job prospects & salary in Sri Lanka. I chose my course (MAcc International Accounting & Financial Management) as it increases my job prospects & international accounting & financial management are two areas that interest me most in this field.

Any advice for new students coming to the University and the UK?

Before leaving your home country, make sure you have got all the orientation programs that include the international orientation program & department orientation program. As I had a bad experience, of only getting information regarding the international orientation program not the department orientation.
After coming to UK, check the university website regularly as it will give more information about when the orientations are & the official teaching timetable as it will not be provided beforehand.
Come to UK at least 2 weeks prior to your commencement of your course in order to adjust to the weather and the culture. This will help you in finding your way & getting to understand the Scottish accent which I found hard to understand at first.
