David McKeown, Hong Kong

I knew as soon as I entered university that I wanted to study abroad.  I love experiencing different cultures; the food, the weather, the people and all their customs. I think it is one of, if not the, best way to learn about other people and ultimately about yourself.

You’d be crazy not too to take this opportunity. You have a chance to study in another part of the world for next to nothing. You will meet some great people, learn some cool things and have experiences that will last you a lifetime. Not to mention the raft of new facebook friends you’ll make.

My Studies

I chose the University of Hong Kong because I wanted to study n Asia. It’s the place to be if you’re looking to get into business. I also wanted to travel a bit around that area and Hong Kong is a great place from which to start.

Learning about business in Asia with local students really gave me a new outlook on the subject. Their attention to detail and commitment tostudy abroad hong kong studying as like nothing I’ve ever seen before. They are also a lot of fun.  There were two things that stuck out for me as the best things about studying abroad. The first was the people. I met some incredible local students and a lot of other really great exchange students from all across the world. They are people I know I will stay in touch with for a long time. And I now know that wherever I go in the world, I likely won’t be too far away from someone I know.

Three things that you missed most from home/Glasgow?

  • Walking to campus in the rain
  • Those cold dark winter afternoons
  • In all seriousness I don’t think I missed one thing about home. Even if I did, it was immediately forgotten when I realized I was in Hong Kong
