Science without Borders
The University of Glasgow is delighted to announce our participation in the Brazilian Government’s prestigious ‘Ciencia sem Fonteiras’ (Science without Borders) scholarship programme. The initiative allows successful candidates to study with us for one sandwich year; either as an undergraduate or PHD student. There will also be opportunities for full PHD study.
Applications to the University of Glasgow will be handled by the International Unit who will co-ordinate the placement of students on behalf of all participating UK institutions.

Undergraduate
Undergraduate candidates are required to apply to Glasgow through the Universities UK application system. Students are allowed to select up to three UK Universities on the same application.
The following subject areas will be available for study at the University of Glasgow;

There will be two types of PhD opportunity available to Science Without Borders students at Glasgow:
- Sandwich PHD (lasting one year)
- Full time PHD (lasting three years)
The application process for PHD students is now open. The deadline for submitting your application and proposal is 29 June. If you would like to be placed with the University of Glasgow you should mention this in the application alongside any research links your institution already has with Glasgow.

Accommodation
It is the University of Glasgow’s responsibility to provide accommodation for all Science without Borders students. We have a variety of options available and will make sure that you are placed within one of our residences during your time with us. Students who are admitted to Glasgow will be contacted with details of their accommodation package over the summer.
Finance
Although the funding package offered by CNPq & CAPES is very generous, students may find that this still does not cover the cost of some programmes offered at Glasgow (particularly PhD programmes which can carry high bench fees). The University of Glasgow is committed to offering Brazilian students complimentary funding if they are successful in being placed here.
