Andrew Davidson, McGill University, Canada

I like adventure. I like challenge. And I like testing myself.I’ve always been a keen traveller, but I’ve never really had to cope with living abroad for a whole year, so being able to cope with that was an interesting prospect. The benefits of students that study abroad are well known; increased motivation, better interactions with other cultures, more self confidence. Canadians are one of the friendliest nations in the world. Everyone I met was so welcoming and once they realise you’re not a local, they’re even more welcoming. I wasn’t expecting such a stark contrast in seasons. The temperature can drop to -30°C in winter, but can feel like 40°C with humidity in summer. It’s amazing how things change, but it also means people make the most of the different seasons.

My Studies

ad_right_140wBeing in second year, I chose a range of biology related courses, everything from anatomy to psychology. McGill has a great reputation not only in North America, but worldwide. Also, the attraction of the French culture in Montreal was too much to resist.

This experience has given me more confidence in making important life decisions, as well as greater enthusiasm and higher aspirations.

How would you describe the study abroad experience?

  • Best year of my life
  • Always eventful
  • Inspiring
