"Do it!!! It will be one of the greatest experiences of your life."
John Vassiliou, UK
I chose to study Law at the University of Queensland, as I had heard amazing things about it from friends. The weather was also a huge factor for me, as I wanted to study somewhere sunny and warm – and you can’t really get much warmer than the ‘Sunshine State’ of Queensland. I was also told that Brisbane is the most ‘Aussie’ out of all the major Australian cities, and I wanted to experience something as different to Glasgow as possible.
How will the experience help you in the future?
As a result of studying abroad, I now have lots and lots of friends to visit all around the world! I also now know that I am capable of moving somewhere completely new and different by myself, and this will help me if I ever have to travel/work abroad in future employment.
My Studies
It is very different studying law in another country. It took me a long time to get to grips with the differences and the structure of the foreign legal system, so it is definitely going to be a challenge if you study law abroad, but certainly not an impossible one!
What's the best thing about your course and being a student abroad?
Being a student abroad, you get to meet so many new and fantastic people, and you get to experience new and amazing things that locals may take for granted, such as seeing giant turkeys roam the streets of Brisbane, or kangaroos crossing the road.
