How to apply for the English plus academic subjects programme

Entry requirements
- For information on our entry requirements for the Pre-sessional Course plus Study Abroad Programme please see English as a Foreign Language.
- A cumulative GPA of 3.0 or equivalent (on a 4.0 scale) or higher
- Two letters of reference from your home institution.
- A personal statement of 500 words explaining why you would like to study at University of Glasgow.
- An academic transcript.
- An English Language test certificate.
Application process
Contact either your home institution's Study Abroad Office or the Study Abroad Co-ordinator at the University of Glasgow to discuss the possibility of studying abroad.
Decide on which English programme best suits your skills, this should be discussed with your home institution adviser.
1. Please read our Study Abroad and Exchange Application Guide on how to apply for the Study Abroad programme. Follow the instructions when completing your application.
2. Browse the course catalogue for the courses available.
3. Complete our online application.
4. After you have completed the online application you must upload the following documents before your application will be processed. We require –
a. A list of up to seven courses which you would potentially like to study at the University of Glasgow alongside the period of time you would like to spend at Glasgow (ie. Semester 1, Semester 2 or the full academic year). Please use the form ENGLISH LANGUAGE PLUS STUDY ABROAD CLASS CHOICES. This must be uploaded to ‘Additional Evidence.’
b. Two academic references or one if we have a partnership agreement with your home University. These must be uploaded to ‘Reference 1’ and ‘Reference 2.’
c. A personal statement of 500 words explaining why you would like to study at the University of Glasgow. This must be uploaded to ‘Additional Evidence.’
d. An academic transcript in colour. This must be uploaded to ‘Academic and Professional Qualification.’
e. A copy of the photopage of your passport. This must be uploaded to ‘Passport photo page.’
f. An English Language test if required. This must be added to ‘Proficiency in English.’
Closing dates
Pre-sessional A plus Study Abroad 9th March
Pre-sessional B plus Study Abroad 27 April
Pre-sessional C plus Study Abroad 1 June

Accommodation
Applications for housing are made online. Once accepted to the programme, you will be emailed a reference number and instructions on making your application for accommodation online. Further guidance can be seen on our Residential Services website. We guarantee you a place in university accommodation so long as you apply as soon as possible after receiving your acceptance.
