English plus academic subjects programme

The University of Glasgow offers a Study Abroad programme for overseas students whose first language is not English, and who have already completed at least two years of an undergraduate degree. Certificates of attendance are issued to all participants. Transcripts will be issued to successful students to be sent to their universities or colleges for academic credit, if required.

An academic Director of Study takes special responsibility for students on the Study Abroad programme.

The emphasis is on the study of English in a university environment, together with the opportunity to participate in other mainstream academic courses. In addition to formal language training with the English Language Unit, there is a focus on study skills to prepare students for their academic classes.

When students have completed the English language programme and attained the required level, academic subjects may be selected from the Colleges of Art, Social Sciences, and Science and Engineering.  Full details of academic subjects available can be accessed in the Study Abroad course catalogue.  Please note that entry to these classes are dependent on experience in the subject.
