Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS)
Important Visa Information
If you wish to make an application for a Tier 4 (General) Student Visa from inside or outside the UK you must obtain a Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies (CAS).
This is a unique online reference number issued to you by the University as your Tier 4 Licenced Sponsor.
You can find more information about Applying for a student visa before you leave home and Extending your student visa in the UK on our International Student Support webpages.
Request a CAS online
You should only complete the online request form if you wish us to produce a CAS number if you intend to apply for a General Visa (Student) under the PBS Tier 4 system (see the paragraph on Immigration in your letter).
If you are coming for a study period of less than six months you are not required to apply for a General Visa (Student) under the Tier 4 PBS system. Students coming for less than 6 months can normally apply for a Student Visitor Visa at the arrival airport, using the special Visa Admission letter provided. However, there are some circumstances in which you would require to apply for a General Visa (Student) under Tier 4 PBS. Please see your admission letter for more information about this.
