Welcome to the Study Abroad Programme, designed for visiting students who elect to come to the University of Glasgow, Scotland for a semester or year as part of their undergraduate degree programme. 

We have been welcoming international students onto our Study Abroad Programme for more than 30 years. We can offer you a tailored programme of study with great flexibility and choice at an internationally renowned university.

You can choose from hundreds of courses from a range of schools. This flexibility ensures a broad academic experience and allows you to match your study abroad options with your home degree course. In addition we offer unique courses specifically designed for our Study Abroad Programme students. Our courses page has details of subjects on offer.

English Language plus Study Abroad programme

English Language Requirements

All students whose first language is not English and who are currently not being taught in English at their home Institution must submit an IELTS  test with their application.

English Language requirements = IELTS 6.0 with no subtest less than 5.5

Pre-sessional English Language course

If applicants have lower Language test results then it is possible to apply for an English Language pre-sessional before beginning the Study Abroad programme. More information: English as a Foreign Language (EFL) pre-sessional courses

In-sessional English Language courses

Students beginning the Study Abroad programme with an IELTS of 6.0  will be required to take an in-sessional English Language class to help develop academic writing skills, listening, reading, vocabulary and grammar (worth 20 SCOTCAT credits). More information: Courses for visiting students
