FAB basics

The FAB resource is tutorial based. Each tutorial is divided into several sections which follow each other in a linear fashion. A diagram of the structure of the hip tutorial is shown below.Structure of the <a href=hip tutorial" width="412" height="88" align="middle" vspace="10" />

It is possible to view any tutorial as an undivided whole if you prefer this or if you want to print it out. The whole tutorial is always the last item in the contents list of a tutorial.

At the top of each tutorial there is a contents section, these provide links to the relevant sections.

Everything which is highlighted and underlined in blue, is a link. Anything highlighted and underlined in purple is a link you have already visited. All of the links within the text of tutorials provide more information about the specific thing highlighted, the majority of these links are glossary links. The glossary is a large reference resource which can be accessed directly from a relavant word highlighted in tutorial text, or searched for specific entries. A glossary entry will provide a definition of the term and often an appropriate picture. To return to the page that you were viewing previously just press the 'back' button.Back button

There are banners at the top and bottom of each section which provide links to contents pages etc. they look like this:

| Top of Page | Anatomy contents | Biomechanics contents | FAB Home Page | Tutorials |

Try them out, use the 'Back' button to return to this page.

Activity Each time you see this logo an activity which you can do will be descibed.

Under construction logo This logo means that the page is under construction. Usually this will mean that the text is complete but that the relevant pictures are missing. It will also mean that the page has not been peer reviewed and may contain some errors.

Anikneec.gif - 10.5 KSome pages have simple animations in them, there is one below, you will need at least Netcape 2.0 to view these. If an animation stops and you want it to continue then re-load the page.

Movie icon Some tutorials have video files in them, these can take quite some time to load from the FAB server onto you computer to enble you to see them. Be patient, all clips should take less than 2 minutes to arrive. If they take longer tell us! These clips can played any number of times. In order to see the video clips which are in some tutorials you will need a suitable 'plug-in', one that will play 'Quicktime' movies. Your computer may already be set up with a suitable movie player, if you are are not sure visit the plug-ins page where there is a complete set of instructions and the correct software.
