pectineus

This is one of the adductor muscles of the hip joint. The adductors are arranged in three layers within the medial part of the thigh and pectineus forms part of the anterior layer (with adductor longus). It arises from the superior pubic ramus (part of the hip bone) - especially its upper surface or pecten - and inserts into a line connecting the lesser trochanter with the linea aspera on the back of the femur. It is supplied by the femoral nerve (L2,3,4). It forms part of the muscular floor of the femoral triangle.
