| A hiatus is a perforation, aperture or opening. For example, there are perforations in the interosseous membrane of the leg to permit blood vessels to pass forwards to the anterior compartment. Similarly there are perforations in the adductor magnus muscle to permit blood vessels to pass backwards into the back of the thigh. |
