eye described is lower than its fellow
hyperdeviation
eye described is higher that its fellow

Concomitant strabismus
angle of deviation remains constant whatever the position of gaze
Incomitant strabismus
angle of deviation varies with the gaze direction
Manifest strabismus
a "tropia" eg esotropia - squint is present with both eyes open
Latent strabismus
a "phoria" eg esophoria - squint is only demonstrable when eyes are disassociated
