Following muscle exposure, 2 absorbable sutures are passed through the outer quarters of medial rectus' tendon.  The tendon is then disinserted from the sclera The amount of recession is measured and marked on the sclera with calipers.The stump of muscle is then resutured to the sclera posterior to its original insertion - see diagram below
