The cover/uncover test should be repeated in the different directions of gaze, disclosing whether the squint is concommitant or not. If the child wears spectacles, test both with and without spectacles. Finally, the alternate cover test should be carried out. In this, each eye is covered alternately and repeatedly. See below.
