Duncan Shanks Sketchbooks

Arran Sketchbook 2001The 100 or so sketchbooks documenting Duncan Shanks’s lifelong interest in the Clyde Valley and his own garden are the subject of ongoing curatorial study in collaboration with Chris Allan and the artist. The aim is to catalogue the sketchbooks and provide an insight into the life and work of one of Scotland’s most accomplished contemporary landscape and still-life painters. The work will result in an on-line catalogue of the sketchbooks and an exhibition at The Hunterian (2015).
