Hunter House

‌William Hunter's family home at Long Calderwood still stands today near the Scottish town of East Kilbride.

In Hunter's time, Long Calderwood was a farm of some 75 acres and the farmhouse stood in the countryside, about a mile from the old village of Kilbride. Through time there have been many alterations to the original two-storey home, including the replacement of the original thatched roof for slates.

Hunter House was previously a museum with displays on William Hunter and his brother, John Hunter, who were both born there.

Today the historic building is a community hub in the heart of Calderwood run by Calderwood Baptist Chruch and is open to the public.
