Evidence-based medicine
Built around the AVMA, EAEVE and RCVS accredited centre of clinical excellence (one of only three worldwide) this research grouping comprises clinician researchers working within the clinical environments of the Small Animal Hospital and the Weipers Centre for Equine Welfare. The group forms the nucleus of clinical research within the Faculty, defined concisely as research directly involving the target species, including both normal and diseased populations. Typically, such research is initiated by observations on naturally occurring disease in clinical cases and their inclusion in the research portfolio marks an important distinction of a Faculty of Veterinary Medicine and signals our strategic commitment to the patient-to-bench approach to clinician-led research. Valuable contributions are made through case series, hypothesis driven quantitative investigations, multi-disciplinary investigations and by clinical trials.
