
The Faculty of Medicine, incorporating clinical medicine, dentistry, nursing and health care, is at the forefront of innovation in both teaching and research. This website provides a comprehensive overview of all aspects of the Faculty from its beginnings in 1637, through its prestigious history to its present day operations, research and teaching programmes.
Our Faculty is at the forefront of leading edge clinical interventions and discovery and is one of the largest in Europe. Through our major research areas we are tackling Scotland’s biggest killers - cardiovascular disease and cancer. The range of activity, beginning with fundamental research into genes and progressing to clinical trials, provides a ‘cell to cure’ approach focused on health improvement, disease prevention and cure as well as fundamental understanding.
The Faculty of Medicine Graduate School aims to provide a high quality learning environment for those undertaking taught and research degrees in a wide range of areas which will prepare graduates for careers in medical research whether in a clinical, academic or commercial environment.
