Prof. Simon Thirgood killed in tragic accident in Ethiopia

Prof. Simon Thirgood, who was an honorary professor in DEEB, was killed in Ethiopia on August 30th when a building collapsed on him in a high wind storm.  

A memorial service to celebrate his life was held in Aboyne on Friday, 11th September 2009.   It was attended by over 200 people, and tributes were given by a cross-section of the many people whose lives that he had enriched, from his family, University friends, academic and professional friends and colleagues, through to the local community of which he was a key figure.
