Doctoral Training Centre in Cell & Proteomic Technologies
Welcome to the Life Science Interface Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) in Cell & Proteomic Technologies. This DTC offers PhD Studentships of 4-years duration. We aim to provide training to researchers offering them significant advantages when embarking on their chosen career.
The studentships are part of an exciting, internationally renowned, cross-University (Glasgow, Edinburgh, Dundee & Strathclyde) Interdisciplinary Research Collaboration that is already well established. The research brings together world-leading researchers in the field of proteomics, imaging and microfluidics, focussing on a wide range of technologies in cell and molecular biology, microarrays, sensors, instrumentation and spectroscopy.
This programme, supported by EPSRC, BBSRC and contributions from host Universities, provides students with the skills required to tackle challenging questions in modern biology today, and will have an equally important impact on the medical research of the future.
In the first year, students will be registered for an M.Res (Masters in Research) during which they will receive training, including formal lecture courses, industrial workshops and laboratory based training, in all relevant areas. These courses will give the students the opportunity to experience all three University environments. The M.Res will also include the opportunity to carry out two 14-week laboratory mini projects. After the first year, students will continue their PhD studies full time at the University of their choice.
